Vehicle Accidents - Car Accidents
Perhaps more than anything else we own, we depend on cars. We depend on them to work and to take us where we need to go. But we also depend on others -- on manufacturers to make safe and reliable automobiles and parts, and on fellow drivers to operate their own vehicles safely. Unfortunately, that reliance is often misplaced. And accidents -- and harm -- result.
In 2006, nearly 18,000 people died in car crashes in the United States, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Almost 1.5 million more were injured. The top three causes of fatal accidents all involve negligence: failure to keep in the proper lane or running off the road; driving too fast for the conditions or above the posted speed limit; driving under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or medication. Defective systems -- like cars that roll over when they shouldn’t, and improperly designed child safety seats -- also contribute to the deadly toll on the roads. –Although 82 percent of drivers in 2006 say they wore their seatbelts, according to the NHTSA, too many lives are still lost or changed forever when others don’t put safety first.
At Mary Alexander & Associates, we’ve been litigating automobile accident cases for more than a quarter of a century. We’ve gone up against manufacturers, insurance companies, and negligent drivers, building more than a reputation for aggressive advocacy and a record of wins. We’ve built back the lives of clients who’ve been harmed when they shouldn’t have been -- getting them the redress they need and the accountability they deserve. Known throughout California for our use of innovative courtroom techniques in explaining complex events to juries, we don’t just master the legal aspects of a case, but the technical ones -- and all the courtroom nuances and tactics. It’s the difference between us and other firms. And the difference between getting a recovery and getting the best possible result.
